Two Halloween Posts That Every Christian Should Read

Halloween

Here are two excellent articles on Halloween that every Christian should read.  Yuriy writes a funny (and true) account of his Halloween experiences from the perspective of being an Eastern European immigrant growing up in America. Trust me American readers, you can’t make that stuff up!  Bogdan put together an article that asks some tough questions of the Christian, namely “Do you see the potential to be missional through this event in your community”. Check out these posts and let me know what you think.

5 Hilarious Things Fundamentalists Do On Halloween  by Yuriy Stasyuk

“Hand out “Halloween is Satanic” pamphlets to trick-or-treaters: I personally have not done this, but heard it was done. Nothing could be more hilarious! I can just imagine a grown man with deadly seriousness in his eyes look down at the 6 year old Superman at his doorstep and ask “Did you always like worshiping the devil?” That confused little spawn of Satan just came for a Snickers, but instead gets the full instruction manual for “Waging Spiritual Warfare and Destroying Demonic Strongholds.”

Is Halloween Heresy, Holy, or Hazardous? by Bogdan Kipko

“Here is the thing though: You can’t just say “I do not celebrate Halloween and I do not need to explain to anyone why I don’t.” Well, you do need to know why you do what you do and your answer should be rooted in Scripture. Of course, there are bible verses you can take, twist them and make them work in your favor. I strongly oppose this approach. Our approach and stance to various cultural holidays needs to come from an informed biblical perspective. You must be able to explain your reasoning behind it. Cliché answers wont work because people can and will call your bluff right away”.
